ABOUT THE ART

My special thanks to Frank Chase. All but one of the images used on this site is the original work of Frank Chase of Chase Designs.

Frank has a love for scifi and has produced wonderful concept artwork of the Space Elevator. I found Frank's work online and knew immediately it was his representation that I wanted on the cover of City of Heaven. Frank was gracious enough to say yes.

A little about Frank and Chase Designs from his website:

CHASE DESIGNS, established in 1976, is a one-man studio producing original furnishings, dynamic sculpture, architectural details, horologic variations, computer-generated 3D graphic art and photography. Frank Chase has developed a broad scope of abilities over the years, combining old-world standards of workmanship with unique Pacific Rim Fusion designs, emphasizing economy of materials and graceful strength of line in his pieces.

Frank has a catalog of proprietary 'stock' designs, but also welcomes the challenges of special commissions; utilizing a palette of exotic materials from around the globe, in addition to Hawaii's own unique native species, Koa Acacia. Franks' creations have museum quality character and are meant to stand the test of time.

Frank holds numerous awards for work presented in various exhibitions and juried shows both on the mainland and in Hawaii. These works include furnishings, wooden timepieces and dynamic/kinetic sculptures . Frank is currently a member of the Board of directors for the Big Island Woodworkers Guild. As a photographer, Frank has formed a studio and model referral company, JCurve Productions, in partnership with photographer Joseph Ruesing and model Jaclynn Joseph. The goal of JCurve is to bring the same high standards of integrity, artistry and craftmanship to local event, studio portraiture, landscape and portfolio work that is reflected in the 3 decades of Chase Designs' output.

My many thanks to Frank for permission to use his images. Frank's 3D renderings can be found at this page.
