The Scriptures and Writings of Royalism

Literature of the Movement

All Royalists rely on a collection of writings by Isian Masters for instruction about belief and practice. Some books are held in religious reverence as scripture, while others are held up as having highly significant historical value for all Royalists.

Advent of the Hiding
Supposedly written in 87 BTH, Advent of the Hiding purports to be a collection of sayings by Isian Masters and Terran Elders recorded two decades before The Hiding. The earliest known copies of Advent of the Hiding surfaced in 142 ATH. Although the documents were dated much earlier, to within fifty years of The Hiding, no evidence has been found placing their origins prior to the end of the Great Generation. Most historians and archeologists, along with the Synod, regard Advent of the Hiding as valuable, but not a completely authoritative historical record.

The Book of Time
A prophetic volume about the last days of Terra, The Book of Time reports the general flow of events during a period that begins with The Hiding. Its purpose is to reveal major points in the flow of post-generational history leading to The Reckoning—the final victory of Isa, culminating in the melding of Terra and Ooranos into a single, unified Kingdom.

The Book of Time is written using a high degree of symbolism to describe future events, and it is, therefore, subject to a wide degree of interpretation by Royalists and Isians alike.

The Books
The Books is a multi-volume record of the earliest known accounts of Deos’ interactions with Terrans. It is divided into sixty six volumes. The Books end with the teachings of Isa’s first adherents, and their work to share the Way of Isa with the world. Following the last written volume, new authoritative material in the canon of Isian history (The Great Generation) did not begin development until shortly after The Coming. This period marked more than two thousand years years, during which there was no new authoritative text in development. The Books is considered by Isians as the most authoritative text on Royalism, with all other texts being subject to the preeminency of The Books.

The Great Generation
Unlike its sixty-six-volume predecessor, The Books, The Great Generation, though covering a span of nearly a thousand years, is divided into three volumes: The Elders, Isian Accounts, and The Young:

The Elders
The Elders presents historical accounts of the formation of the early Kingdom, shortly after The Coming, and the reordering of the world in culture, politics, and nature. The central themes of The Elders are victory, the global consequences of transgression, and renewal.

Isian Accounts
The favored book of most Isians, Isian Accounts contains the recorded accounts of the Isian Masters, poetry, and additional wisdom spoken by Isa during His thousand-year reign on Terra. It is the longest of the three volumes, accounting for more than two-thirds of The Great Generation. The central themes of Isian Accounts are wisdom, right living, and loving submission, with a particular focus on the person of Isa, the King.

The Young
The Young records the reflections of those born during the last forty-year generation of the King’s thousand-year reign as they were entering a new era after The Hiding; trying to lead a new generation of Terrans who had never seen the King. The central themes of The Young are political responsibility, personal and global order, newness of experience, and faithfulness despite uncertainty.
