According to Royalist fablers, the Great King ruled Terra for a thousand years, administering justice and peace among people given to violence and rebellion. The King was assisted in his administration by non-Terran beings known as Isian Masters. At the end of the King's millennial reign, the King and the Isian Masters disappeared from the capital City of Nations, leaving Terrans to manage their own affairs according to the principles he handed down to them.According to the Royalist book of history, The Great Generation, there were a small number of Terrans who lived a thousand or more years, who were present at the beginning of the Great Generation and survived until its end. These Terrans, supposedly the longest living on record, held a special place of honor among the following generations that were born during the Great Generational period. However, not all Terran Elders received such recognition. A few were reported to have abandoned Royalism at the close of the Great Generation. The First Elders came to power following The Hiding and the demise of the last Terran Elders. They established the Synod of Nations to govern the spiritual affairs of the new Royalist movement, dedicated to the preservation of the kingdom. However, after hundreds of years a new political order arose with a World Parliament governing the political order and the Synod governing the spiritual life of the people. Yet as the authority of the parliament grew, the influence of the Synod over the spiritual life of the people began waned. Within a thousand years of The Hiding, Royalism, though culturally significant, was regarded by most as a myth. Yet a few Royalists cling to their beliefs, waiting for the final return of the King.
